  1. Tom, try to read some of your classmates' questions and see if that triggers some additional questions in your mind.

  2. Tom, I like your second question. I don't think it is a matter of "we don't familiarize ourselves", but a matter of we don't have time to do it! The government is always changing and in everyones busy lives they don't have the time. Perhaps we should start to make the time to get up to date. Also I like your last question Tom, when we think about it, what really does the government do? I feel as if its main job is to keep the U.S. in order. Imagine if we had no government, people would be doing whatever, whenever they wanted. It seems as if they enforce the laws more than providing them.

  3. Tom, i also like your second question. However, i feel that we don't familiarize ourselves with politics because we feel that it can handle itself. Things do not change very drastically, or right away, and i feel that people see no change and feel as if they do not need to step in and do anything about it. They don't want to waste there time when there are other people who will take care of things. I also like your tenth question when you said that poorer people do not have as many opportunities as upper or middle class. If someone comes from a poor background and might not have had the same education as others, that could effect their future. Also, I believe we all do have potential, but its how we view ourselves. We have to work to get out of a bad situation, otherwise poor people will remain poor.

  4. Tom I liked the question "Why does the upper and middle classes have more opportunities than poorer people? Doesn't everyone have potential?". I feel as though they may have more oppurtunities with all of the scholarships, tutors, and extra cirriculars they are entitled to for free. However the main factor of why most of the poor cannot change their life is due to the involvement of their parents in their lives. If the youth had the support of their parents they would be directed towards the good oppurtunities waiting for them. However they turn towards gangs to find the family and the only male role models they have to look up to.

I like the last question alot. The government exists to keep order and orginization, and maintain peace in the nation. Today our government regulates the market, employs too many people in the US, gives to projects that sometimes do not pay off, pumps billions into wasteful programs, we need less government and more free market!
